The Friends of Killhope have hosted many mineral exhibitions in Weardale
The Challenge
Weardale has a long history of mineral exhibitions and competitions. The Friends decided to recreate ‘The Grand Mineralogical Exhibition’ of the 19th century, and it proved to be so popular that they continued to do so for many years.
The Value
As well as providing a fantastic display of mineral specimens for the general public to view, the Friends of Killhope and the mineral collectors were on hand to answer their questions and advise on matters relating to geology, mining history and mineralogy.
